A Deep Dive into Fedora

Ithaca, NY Summer sojourns come in many varieties. For leaders and participants in the third Red Island Repository Institute (RIRI) hosted by the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) in Charlottetown, Canada, red sand beaches, lobster and deep dives into the inner workings of Fedora—open source flexible extensible, digital object repository software—were a logical combination for a destination experience focused around technology education and the natural beauty of Prince Edward Island.

History and Culture Through DSpace at Tuskegee University Archives Repository

Ithaca, NY Tuskegee University was founded in post-civil war Alabama to educate and empower freed slaves. Lewis Adams and George W. Campbell were instrumental securing funds to open what was then known as the Tuskegee Normal School in 1881 under the leadership of former slave Booker T. Washington. The Auburn University Libraries Systems Department recently completed a collaborative project with Tuskegee University to make their archival materials available online in a DSpace Repository.

U.S. National Library of Medicine Launches Fedora-based Digital Collections

Washington, DC The National Library of Medicine has launched its Digital Collections as part of a digital repository project that was started in 2006. NLM’s digital collections consist of historic public health resources, images, rich media and documents related to informational campaigns and health services over the last 200 years.
