Repositories Support Project Launches Podcast Series
Aberystwyth, UK Hear directly from many of the people who are engaged in developing repository architectures and implementations in a new series of podcasts from The Repositories Support Project (RSP). RSP is a JISC initiative that supports the development and growth of the UK repositories network. The podcast series is designed to help you keep up with evolving information, best practices, and discussions.
The series opens with four podcasts, featuring 24 contributors and covering topics including repository software, preservation and discovery.
• EPrints: repository software of the future or of the past?
Find out how trainees fared using the latest EPrints software to build and populate a repository in one session using a new Web-based page editor.
• Fedora: optimum repository software or overkill?
Two directors of Fedora Commons explain why the added power and flexibility of this repository software is worth the steeper learning curve.
• DRIVER: promoting digital repositories across Europe.
The SHERPA team leading UK participation in DRIVER show how the project is giving visibility and political voice to European repositories.
• Digital preservation: are repositories doing enough for preservation?
Speakers at a workshop on Tackling the Preservation Challenge tell us about practical tools and services to help repositories.
The podcasts are available to download to an MP3 player or stream directly from http://www.rsp.ac.uk/podcasts/
