CASRAI has a number of annual events taking place in our various chapters in the coming months. We hope you will see an event near you with a programme that catches your interest. Reconnect events are an opportunity for you to join the CASRAI community in your country as we work together to make research management information more efficient and effective throughout an ever changing research management lifecycle. You don’t have to be a member to attend and you can attend any of the events listed below based on your location and interests.

Today we officially launch the 2018 DuraSpace Membership Campaign. The campaign raises funds to support the continued advancement of the DuraSpace projects - DSpace, Fedora, VIVO, and CASRAI.

Benjamin Gross has been a VIVO committer for 3 years.  He is currently working at Clarivate Analytics. Prior to joining Clarivate, Benjamin developed Connect UNAVCO, a VIVO site for a geoscience and data-focused consortium.

As the number of DSpace and Fedora repositories and VIVO installations grow–in 2018 there are more than 2,900 registered worldwide–the desire to learn more about them–where are they, how they are accessed online, what type of content they hold, software versions, specializations etc.–also increases. Answers to these and other questions can lead to greater connections among institutions and repository instances with similar goals and interests.

Action Planning  VIVO Leadership, Steering and invited guests met March 1 at Duke University to review progress of the VIVO Project over the past three years, consider goals for the coming year, and organize action planning teams to create measurable objectives and monitor progress toward the objectives.  Five teams were formed:

Research Graph VIVO Cloud Pilot. For years sites wishing to implement VIVO have been looking for a way to discover the work of their institution and represent it in a VIVO.  Some sites have asked for a hosted solution.  Last year, I worked with Research Graph to show how their data could be harvested and loaded into a hosted VIVO.  Since then, working with
