Quick Poll Results: Using Fedora 3.0

Ithaca, NY  Of the 39 Respondents to the Fedora Commons Quick Check Poll for March 2009, 30.8 reported that they are investigating the use of Fedora 3.0 Repository software; 51.3% are in development, and; 17.9% are currently using the software in their operations. 71.1% are using, or plan to use, Fedora 3.0’s the API-M and/or API-A (soap interfaces). 86.8% are developing custom applications, services or components to use with Fedora 3.0. Sun in the Cloud

New York City Today, Mar 18, 2009, Sun is hosting the CommunityOne East conference at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City to announce Sun’s strategy and roadmap for its public cloud computing service. Dave Douglas and Lew Tucker are keynote speakers at the conference, and will unveil details about Sun’s strategy and roadmap for the public cloud computing space.

“Creative Service Repository Building” Featured in April All About Repositories Webinar

Washington, D.C. During its three years of operations, the institutional repository at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) has gathered and posted over 21,000 documents, which together with its hosted ETD collection make it the third largest institutional repository in the U.S. Usage records also indicate it is one of the busiest, serving up more than 100,000 downloads a month. The repository has also become the cornerstone for a bundle of electronic publishing services developed and provided by the UNL Libraries.

Introducing Fedora Commons “QuickCheck”

Ithaca, NY Beginning this month, Fedora Commons will conduct brief polls entitled QuickCheck. The goal of this month’s QuickCheck is to learn more about Fedora 3.0 production implementations. Subsequent polls will cover a variety of topics.

Fedora Content Model Architecture and Disseminations at OR09

At OR07 there was a well attended Birds of a Feather (BOF) session around the idea of setting up a bank of content models and disseminators for Fedora 2.0.  This process fell by the wayside as a formal content model architecture became part of the Fedora 3.o release.
