Earlier this month EDUCAUSE 2009 was held in the midst of concern over shrinking budgets and increasing IT needs at institutions of higher education. Several sessions and many conversations centered around how to take advantage of economies represented by new technologies such as cloud computing and distributed communication tools.

Ithaca, NY Cornell University Library is pleased to announce a $12.2 million grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to establish and support the national networking of biomedical researchers. The two-year grant is led by the University of Florida, with Cornell University and Indiana University as major partners.

Most of us are coping with inadequate resources available for addressing our primary missions, and lack the time, staff, skills, and other resources to address long-term access to that cultural heritage. This includes the challenge of locating and securing tools and resources to address the long-term preservation required to assure that access.
