From the DSpace 3.0 Release Team

We thank you all for your great feedback during the first round of the DSpace 3.0 Test-A-Thon! You have helped discover many bugs, some of which we have already fixed. Since we have so many great new features in 3.0, we decided to give it another round of public testing to help make it to the final 3.0 release without any significant bugs.

Winchester, MA  On October 17 Sayeed Choudhury and James L. Mullins presented “E-Research Support at Johns Hopkins University and Purdue University” to participants in the DuraSpace/ARL/DLF E-Science Institute. In this webinar, the presenters discuss their progress towards developing a data management plan and service at their institutions. This pre-recorded webinar is part the DuraSpace Hot Topics Community Webinar Series on "Research Data Management Support" curated by E-Science Institute faculty.

Winchester, MA  Digitization of fragile film and video resources is the first step towards making sure they are preserved into the future. Yale University's department of Manuscripts and Archives published an example of a video from The Fortunoff Video Archive Holocaust Testimonies, a historic collection of over 4,400 videotaped interviews with witnesses and survivors of the Holocaust, to demonstrate how important it is not only to digitize video resources, but to do it as soon as possible.

Boston, MA  Since 2009 when the MIT Faculty Open Access Policy went into effect more than 7,000 MIT faculty papers have been made openly available from DSpace@MIT. The articles have been downloaded over 630,000 times by visitors from all over the world.

The DSpace committers team are delighted to announce a new member to the group: João Melo from Lyncode, his startup company. Please join us in welcoming him!

Since his earlier student stages, as a hobby, João had studied the most recent programming methodologies, frameworks and languages, he developed websites, applications, tools and contributed to his local community leading local informatics projects.
