History and Culture Through DSpace at Tuskegee University Archives Repository

Ithaca, NY Tuskegee University was founded in post-civil war Alabama to educate and empower freed slaves. Lewis Adams and George W. Campbell were instrumental securing funds to open what was then known as the Tuskegee Normal School in 1881 under the leadership of former slave Booker T. Washington. The Auburn University Libraries Systems Department recently completed a collaborative project with Tuskegee University to make their archival materials available online in a DSpace Repository.

TDL releases Vireo ETD System as open-source software

The Texas Digital Library (TDL) is pleased to announce the open-source release of its Vireo submission and management system for electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs). Developed by the TDL with partial grant funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, Vireo addresses all steps of the ETD process, from online submission to publication in an institutional repository.
